Seal drafts and reduce energy bills by properly weather-stripping your doors and windows. A simple project with big savings.

Check all doors and windows for drafts. Hold a lit candle near edges — if it flickers, you have an air leak. Remove any old, worn weather stripping.
Wipe down all surfaces where new weather stripping will be applied using rubbing alcohol. This ensures strong adhesion. Let dry completely.
Measure each side of the door or window frame. Cut your weather stripping to length, adding 1/2 inch extra for overlap at corners.
Peel the adhesive backing and press firmly into place along the frame. For V-strip, fold the V to face outward. Ensure continuous contact without gaps.
Close the door or window and check for a snug fit. The weather stripping should compress slightly when closed. Repeat the candle test to verify no more drafts.
